The Women's World Cup celebrated the success of the Spanish team, but not without its share of controversies. Following Spain's victory, the team's elation was palpable. Spanish football federation president, Luis Rubiales, joined the players on the field to convey his congratulations and embrace the team members. However, a misstep led to an unintended 'kiss' between Rubiales and Spanish midfielder Jenni Hermoso.

While the incident sparked criticism on social media, Hermoso defended the president's actions. Spain secured victory against England with a 1-0 score, clinching the coveted trophy. Despite the public attention, Hermoso's Instagram post revealed, "I didn't appreciate it." Nevertheless, she acknowledged that it was a "natural gesture of affection" prompted by the euphoria of their World Cup triumph.

Hermoso emphasized the president's positive conduct, citing their strong relationship. She viewed the gesture as a simple display of friendship and gratitude, underscoring the importance of their monumental achievement. Spanish TV presenter remarks, however, expressed a differing viewpoint, branding Rubiales's actions as "unpresentable" and "excessive."

President Rubiales himself dismissed the criticism, labeling such opinions as "idiots can be found everywhere." A supporter echoed this sentiment, advocating against overanalyzing a gesture of little consequence.

Interestingly, a locker room video captured Rubiales's playful announcement of an all-expenses-paid trip to Ibiza, humorously alluding to celebrating his wedding with Jenni there.

Despite the victory, the relationship between Coach Jorge Vilda, the federation, and the players has faced scrutiny. Rumors and controversies have clouded the joy of Spain's World Cup win.

Spain encountered prior adversity when several players initially formed a 15-player protest league against the national team before the tournament. Eventually, most players withdrew, leaving only three in the 'team'.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) faced criticism for its handling of the protest, reflecting Rubiales' unwavering support for Coach Vilda.

In the match, a pivotal moment saw Spain evade defeat due to an opposing strike, notably by Olga Carmona. However, Hermoso, who plays for the Mexican side Pachuca, missed a penalty during the game.

In a post-game interview, Hermoso emotionally expressed that the team played according to their vision and secured victory in the World Cup.
