Sourav Ganguly's Biopic: Makers react to reports of Ranbir Kapoor playing the lead

Recently, there have been rumours that Ranbir Kapoor will play the lead role in the biopic of cricketer Sourav Ganguly. The film's creators have now responded to the news, which initially caused much excitement.

Ranbir Kapoor is reportedly in talks to play Sourav Ganguly in the biopic of the legendary cricketer, and he plans to fly to Kolkata soon to visit Eden Garden, the cricketer's house, and other locations.

Ankur Garg, one of the Sourav Ganguly biopic producers, has now commented on Ranbir Kapoor's selection for the part. The director said that he doesn't have any updates to provide at this time. After the release of our upcoming movie, they will concentrate on a number of projects, including the biopic. Casting or anything else has not been discussed as of yet.


When asked about the development, Dona Ganguly, Sourav Ganguly's wife, said that she is not sure. According to a close friend of Ganguly, Sanjay Das, said nothing about the film is fixed yet. The choice of the lead actor will need to be made within the next eight to nine months. Sourav and the production company will formally announce who will play his character on the screen once everything is in place. At the moment, the rumour that Ranbir Kapoor will play Dada is just that."

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, directed by Luv Ranjan. Shraddha Kapoor also appears in the film, which marks the duo's first onscreen collaboration. 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,' which also stars Anubhav Singh Bassi in a pivotal role, is set to hit theatres on March 8, 2023.

Ranbir Kapoor will also appear in Animal, an action-thriller directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film, which stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri, will be released in August of this year.
