Sonam Bajwa reveals she was sidelined in Punjabi film industry, opens up about being bullied in childhood

Sonam Bajwa spoke about facing industry sidelining and how her success changed people's behaviour towards her in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. In the interview, Sonam Bajwa shared how she had experienced discrimination from childhood due to her skin colour, which led to some relatives not inviting her to their homes. However, she mentioned that her success in the film industry changed their attitude towards her. Despite being sidelined by the Punjabi film industry at times, Sonam said she remained unfazed as she had faced worse in her childhood. She also revealed that there were instances where she was removed from a film without being informed.

These comments by Sonam come after Shehnaaz Gill also spoke about being cut off from the industry.

Sonam started her acting career with the Punjabi film "Best Of Luck" in 2013, after participating in the 2012 Femina Miss India pageant. She has since starred in several successful films, including "Punjab 1984," and was recently part of the star-studded 'The Entertainers' tour in the US with actors like Akshay Kumar, Disha Patani, Mouni Roy, and Nora Fatehi.


Earlier, Shehnaz Gill had said that she was completely left out from the Punjabi industry and that she was reduced to tears when she was not invited to her film’s premiere. In a previous interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shehnaz recalled an incident when she played the second lead in the movie and was not invited for the premiere of the same.
