Sonakshi Sinha named as PETA India's 2022 ‘Person of the Year’ title
Sonakshi Sinha has been named PETA India's 2022 Person of the Year. The actress is often seen speaking out about the need for stronger animal welfare laws in India.

Sonakshi's actions helped save the lives of many animals killed for fashion, but her strong advocacy for dog and cat rights earned her the title. As said in the PETA India's anti-leather campaign, "More than 1.4 billion cows, sheep, goats, dogs, cats and other animals are killed each year for cruelty. For Leather accessories that no one needs."
The 'Dabang' actress uploaded a photo to her Instagram, which is a photo of the campaign. Also written on the bag were "Did your bag bleed" and "Choose leather free".
The actress wrote in her caption, "Fashion should be fun and not scary. I hope my new @petaindia campaign gets this message across. Choose animal-friendly fashion." Not just because it's humane, but because it's so cold!"
A PETA India press release about her award said, "We are actively encouraging shoppers to embrace animal and eco-friendly vegan leather made from pineapple leaves, cork, fruit trimmings, mushrooms and more. There is demand in her story of speaking up for animals." In accordance with stricter animal welfare laws. "
PETA India also announced the title on her social media handles and was named PETA Person of the Year in India for the post. Last year, Aria Butt was awarded the same title.
Previously PETA India Person of the Year winners include former Supreme Court Justice KS Panicker Radhakrishnan, cricketer Virat Kohli, comedian Kapil Sharma; and actors John Abraham, Anushka Sharma, Sunny Leone, R Madhavan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Hema Malini, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, among others.
