Soham Sushant Naik, a 20-year-old resident of Madhegal in Cacora, was arrested by the South Goa Police for allegedly filming and circulating obscene videos of minor girls, according to reports.

Naik was taken into custody following widespread public outrage over an alleged sex scandal involving 25 to 30 minor girls. Preliminary findings suggest that he allegedly engaged in sexual relationships with several minors, recorded the encounters, and used the footage to threaten the victims into silence.

Soham Naik arrested after three years

Naik was arrested after protests were staged outside the Kudchade police station. Investigations indicate that the alleged abuse may have continued over a period of three years.

The case reportedly came to light after the accused allegedly showed explicit videos to acquaintances at a social gathering. As information spread across South Goa, tensions escalated, leading to his detention by the police.

Earlier, on March 21, local residents had protested outside the Curchorem police station after reports emerged that obscene videos involving minor girls were being circulated.

Police initially did not make an arrest due to the absence of a formal complaint. However, following sustained protests and mounting pressure, Naik was arrested the following day.

Investigation Underway, More Victims Come Forward

Police said that two minor girls had come forward to file complaints related to alleged sexual exploitation. The victims recorded their statements before the investigating officer before the case was handed over to the Crime Branch.

So far, three cases had been registered against the accused, and officials expected more victims to come forward as the investigation progressed. Authorities were examining digital evidence to determine the full extent of the alleged offences.

Officials also confirmed that the accused’s mobile phone would be sent for forensic examination as part of the ongoing probe.
