Soha Ali Khan reveals using AI to understand daughter Inaaya and handle parenting challenges: What is her ‘asking for a friend’ trick?

Actor Soha Ali Khan has revealed that artificial intelligence has become part of her everyday parenting routine. The actor said she sometimes turns to AI for quick advice while dealing with situations involving her daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, including understanding her behaviour and handling tantrums.

In an interview with Tweak India, Soha spoke about how she balances advice from people around her with information and support from AI. She said the technology has become useful when she needs answers or reassurance quickly.

“I would like to think I have a healthy balance between the real people and the machines. But I also do think that there is a lot of empathy that I get from AI,” Soha said.


Explaining why she finds AI helpful, the actor said the technology is available whenever she needs it and often provides the kind of response she is looking for.

“There is a lot of time that AI has for me that other people may not have, and there seems to be a lot of what I want to hear coming back to me,” she added.

Soha admitted that she understands the empathetic responses from AI may be linked to how the technology is designed. Despite this, she said she continues to use it as part of her parenting routine.

Soha did not share the exact questions she asks AI but said she prefers keeping those conversations private. The actor jokingly revealed that she often begins her queries with the words, “Asking for a friend”.

“Never really ask for yourself guys,” she said.

Soha also spoke about whether she tries to hide certain aspects of her personality from Inaaya. She said that after eight years of parenting, her daughter has seen her in different situations, including moments when she has been emotional or lost her temper.

“I want Inaaya to see me for what I truly am, which is far from perfect. I’m a bit of a mess at times. I have lost my temper, I have cried, and she sees me. She sees me for who I truly am,” the actor said.

Soha recalled that she had tried to maintain a different persona for about three years but eventually stopped doing so. She said she is now grateful that Inaaya accepts her without expecting perfection.

“But now, I am grateful to her that she has empathy, that she accepts me for who I am, and that she loves me for who I am. She really has seen all sides of me,” she added.
