What was expected to be one of the most high-profile celebrity weddings of the year has now turned into a whirlwind of speculation and unanswered questions. Soon after India’s win at the Women’s World Cup, star batter Smriti Mandhana was set to marry music composer Palash Muchhal on November 23. However, the much-awaited ceremony did not happen as planned.

According to reports, on the day of the wedding, Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital. Just a day later, Palash himself was admitted to a hospital in Sangli, Smriti’s hometown, and was subsequently moved to Mumbai for further care. The cricketer's business manager later confirmed that the wedding had been postponed due to the medical emergency.

Adding fuel to the rumours, social media users noticed that Smriti removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram, although a few casual photos with Palash remain. Meanwhile, both Smriti’s father and Palash have now reportedly been discharged from the hospital, but a new wedding date has not yet been announced.

Amid the uncertainty, fans also picked up on another detail: both Smriti and Palash updated their Instagram bios with the ‘nazar’ emoticon, sparking a fresh round of speculation. However, family members have clarified that the postponement was solely because of health concerns, urging the public not to jump to conclusions.

In a touching show of support, Team India cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has withdrawn from the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to stand by Smriti.

Palash’s mother, Amita, speaking to Hindustan Times, said, "Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain... Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome... Everything will be fine, shaadi bohot jaldi hogi."

As fans await updates, both families remain hopeful about rescheduling the ceremony soon, while Smriti’s supporters around the world continue to send prayers for a smooth recovery and happy celebration ahead.
