A train accident in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district injured six railway personnel on Wednesday, including two locomotive pilots. The incident, which took place near the Singhpur station, saw a moving freight train derail after hitting a stationary goods train.

The incident disrupted traffic on the Bilaspur-Katni rail route, causing at least 10 trains on the Bilaspur-Katni rail route to be cancelled.

A South East Central Railway official told PTI that the accident took place due to signal overshoot at around 6.50 am near Singhpur station, which falls under Bilaspur railway division. Eight wagons and a locomotive of the iron ore-laden moving goods train derailed in the incident.


Katni is located in Madhya Pradesh and Bilaspur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

"As per preliminary information, six railway personnel, including two locomotive pilots, suffered injuries in the incident," an official told PTI..

Injured persons have been shifted to a hospital. Efforts were on to restore the rail traffic and relief operations are underway, according to sources.
