Sidharth Malhotra reacts after Andaman Island gets named after captain Vikram Batra
Sidharth Malhotra expressed his joy that Captain Vikram Batra, the character he portrayed in "Shershaah," was honoured after an Andaman and Nicobar island was named after the decorated soldier.

Sidharth Malhotra played Captain Batra in the critically acclaimed 2021 film "Shershaah," which immortalised the life of the post-Kargil War hero. The Vishnuvardhan-directed movie received favourable reviews when it was released on Amazon Prime Video in August 2021.
In response to the most recent development, Sidharth expressed his joy that the war hero was receiving this honour. "The very news that an island in Andaman & Nicobar is named after our hero Capt. Vikram Batra leaves me with goosebumps," Sidharth captioned a photo he posted to Twitter.
"My heart swells with pride that I was fortunate to live his role on screen," he continued in his tweet. By taking this action, PM @narendramodi guarantees that Shershaah will live on forever.
After a TV interview during the 1999 war, Captain Batra's code name Shershaah gained notoriety. He was a wartime force to be reckoned with and helped the Indian Army secure crucial victories in the capture of Points 5140 and 4875.
In terms of his professional career, Sidharth most recently appeared in the spy thriller "Mission Majnu" on Netflix, which was released on January 20.
