Their father, Jitendra Sharma, had been attending a bhajan programme, while their mother, Rita Sharma, herself an actress, was away in Mumbai for a shooting schedule.

Jitendra Sharma recounted the harrowing events of that night. “An electrical short circuit occurred, and the house filled with smoke. Both my children were asleep, and I was attending a nearby vigil. When someone informed me about the smoke, I ran to the house and tried to save them. The smoke was everywhere, and I couldn’t see anything. I opened the windows as quickly as I could, but it was too late.”

Despite taking his children to the hospital, doctors could not save them. “One of them was still alive when we reached the hospital, but the carbon monoxide inhalation was too severe. Both our children passed away. For a moment, I thought I could save them, but I just watched helplessly,” Jitendra said.
