Shreyas Mishra's childhood was defined by curiosity and he turned it into an extraordinary achievement. He is among the 12 candidates nationwide and the only one from Delhi to score a perfect 100 in the engineering entrance exam, JEE Main 2026.
Crediting this milestone to years of disciplined preparation, Mishra told TOI, "I prepared since 2019, when I was in Class VI, put in 12-14 hours of study every day. Whenever I get time, I pursue cricket and music."
A student of Kulachi Hansraj Model School in Ashok Vihar, he balances his academics with his personal interests and attributes his consistency as the main key to sustaining such an intense routine over the years.
Shreyas Mishra's fascination with Maths
"While I began preparation early on, it was only two years ago that I shifted to a PG in Punjabi Bagh, away from my parents, who stay in Greater Noida, to start a full-fledged aspirant's journey. My fascination with maths pulled me towards JEE. While I aimed to get into the country's top institutes, topping the exam was completely unexpected," Mishra told Hindustan Times. He is set to appear for his board exams at Ashok Vihar-based Kulachi Hansraj Model School (Senior Wing).ALSO READ: Bengaluru multi-vehicle accident: 6 students out for joyride die on spot after SUV at 150–160 kmph rams biker, rips through truck in Hoskote crash
"The last one-and-a-half months were spent giving numerous mocks, doing in-depth analysis, and getting doubts cleared in classes and discussions among peers," Mishra explained.
What does he do in his leisure time?
Recognising the need for balance, he maintained breaks to prevent burnout, listening to music, playing cricket, and spending time with friends, while limiting social media use."From the start, I used to take time out to avoid burnout. Listening to classical music, playing cricket, and spending quality time with friends remained a priority to avoid stress," he said.
Originally from Odisha, Shreyas’s father, Sumant Mishra, moved to the national capital 24 years ago in search of better career opportunities and now works as a cybersecurity consultant. His mother serves as an associate professor in the computer science department at a private university. The family currently resides in Noida Extension.
During his early years, his father enrolled him in speed mathematics and Abacus competitions, which helped sharpen his numerical ability and boost his confidence. “He won second prize in the Western UP Abacus Championship. He always had a keen interest in mathematics, and that passion gradually grew to this level,” Mishra said, reflecting on a journey that began with curiosity and culminated in a perfect score.
