Shivam Dube has finally explained the reason behind his early train departure the very next morning after India’s T20 World Cup victory.
He said: “Ghar jaake mujhe apne bachche aur apne papa se milne ki kaafi anxiety ho rahi thi… isliye main subah-subah ghar chala aaya. Wait hi nahi ho raha tha.”
Aware that travelling as a high-profile cricketer could draw attention, Shivam Dube made conscious efforts to remain unnoticed. He opted for an early morning train leaving Ahmedabad at 5:10 am, expecting minimal crowd at the station, and stayed inside his car until the final moments before boarding.
To further avoid recognition, he wore a cap, face mask, and a full-sleeved T-shirt, and spent most of the journey resting on the upper berth of his compartment.
The remainder of the journey was uneventful for Shivam Dube and his companions. He arrived in Mumbai without drawing the kind of attention he might have faced at an airport. Local police assisted in managing his exit from the station, ensuring a smooth and secure departure.
