Renowned Indian actor Shefali Shah has opened up about a traumatic experience from her past in a recent podcast with ANI. During the conversation, Shah disclosed how she was inappropriately touched in a crowded market and felt ashamed afterwards. She stated that she didn't report the incident because she was too ashamed to speak up, an all too common feeling among victims of sexual assault.

The talented actor, who has received widespread acclaim for her roles in shows like Delhi Crime and Dil Dhadakne Do, also discussed her role in the film Monsoon Wedding. In the movie, she played the character of Ria Verma, a survivor of childhood sexual abuse.

Speaking about her own experience, Shah said that she didn't give it much thought at the time and pushed the feelings of guilt and shame to the back of her mind. She added that she felt it was an important conversation to have, but didn't realize it until much later.

Last year, Shefali Shah won the Best Actress award at the Melbourne Film Festival for her role in Jalsa, a movie that also won the "equality in films" award. She was recently seen in the film Doctor G alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and in the second season of the hit show Delhi Crime, which won the best drama series honor at the 48th International Emmy Awards.
