A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed large groups of passengers confronting Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel and other officials, seeking answers. Some passengers claimed they were told the delay was caused because an executive coach had not been attached to the train.
According to an Indian Express report, railway authorities later admitted the error, explaining that the missing coach was a result of a logistical oversight. They reassured the public that steps were being taken to rectify the situation.
Passengers expressed their dismay on social media.
One X user wrote, “Most pathetic experience. Sitting in Amritsar Shatabdi train. Not started yet. I didn't know the exact reason but sources say they are adding one more coach and punishing passengers sitting in 15 coaches.”
