Amidst Delhi's ongoing struggle with deteriorating air quality, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor took to social media to shed light on the grim situation and humorously critique the government's response.

Tharoor shared images of satirical signboards, which have been circulating on WhatsApp, playfully renaming well-known Delhi landmarks to reflect the city's severe air pollution. In his post, Tharoor drew attention to the city's Air Quality Index (AQI), which had surged to 462, nearly 19 times the safe limit prescribed by the World Health Organization (WHO), set at 25.

“Not my own creation: this is going around @whatsApp as exasperated Delhiites choke and splutter under an AQI of 462, nearly 19 times the @who safe limit of 25. As someone remarked, ‘no wonder the government has renamed the main road the Martavya Path!” Tharoor wrote.

The witty signboards playfully altered iconic Delhi locales, featuring names such as "Pollutyens’ Delhi" in lieu of Lutyens’ Delhi, "Haze Khas" as a substitute for Hauz Khas, "Dhua Kuan" playfully replacing Dhaula Kuan, and "Chandni Choke" providing a humorous twist on Chandni Chowk.

Tharoor's post spotlights the dire air quality situation in Delhi while underscoring the public's exasperation with the ongoing pollution crisis.
