Sharmila Tagore says ‘powerful roles go to men’, claims ‘special scripts’ are prepared for Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher
Sharmila Tagore claimed that 'special scripts' are prepared for Amitabh Bachchan and Anupam Kher but not for Waheeda Rehman.

In the interview, Sharmila said "We are still ageist, especially with women because powerful roles always go to the men. Like some special scripts are being written for Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, but not for Waheeda Rehman ji and not for many other lady actors who are old in age”.
Sharmila praised Neena Gupta saying, “There are excellent, more mature actresses, such as Neena (Gupta), who is a magnificent actor. There are many more... OTT is full of fantastic performers. That will take time, but things will improve”.
Sharmila Tagore is making her cinematic debut following 2010’s ‘Break Ke Baad’. She will be seen in Rahul V Chittella's family drama ‘Gulmohar’. Kusum, the matriarch of the Batra family, is played by the actor. In the film, Manoj Bajpayee will play her on-screen son Arun.
Amol Palekar, Suraj Sharma, Simran Rishi Bagga, and Kaveri Seth also appear along with Sharmila Tagore in Gulmohar. Star Studios is producing it in collaboration with Chalkboard Entertainment and Autonomous Works. On March 3, Gulmohar will be available on Disney+ Hotstar. Arpita Mukherjee and Rahul wrote the script for the film.
