Shark Tank judge Namita Thapar talks about her struggles with IVF, says 'I gave up, took 25 Injections'

The famous business reality show 'Shark Tank India' has released its season two, and ever since the season hit the TV screens it has been making headlines. During one of the episodes, the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita Thapar, opened up about the struggles she faced while conceiving her second child through in-vitro fertilization (IVF).


In that particular episode, the pitch presented by the contestant focused on the issue of infertility that women face, and that's when Namita talked about her struggles. She said that at the age of 28, she conceived naturally. However, three to four years later, the businesswoman faced fertility problems when she wanted a second baby.



As she faced fertility issues, the businesswoman opted for IVF twice during which she endured 25 injections, due to which Namita suffered agonizing physical and mental pain. Thapar said that she regretted deciding to discontinue all child-bearing efforts and be happy with only one kid. After a few months, she was able to conceive naturally, although it took her some time to heal from the trauma.


During the episode, she stated that "I already have children, but consider the parents who don't. After two tries, I gave up and said that I was content with having just one kid, but then a miracle occurred, and I became pregnant naturally, but the memory lingered, and for ten years I was unable to discuss it in public. I found it quite difficult to discuss it with anyone."


After Namita opened up about her struggles, other judges lauded her for showing courage and talking about the issue.
