Jyestha Amavasya will begin on May 18 at 9:43 pm and end on May 19 at 9:21 pm. Based on the Uday Tithi, Shani Jayanti will be celebrated on May 19.
Shani Jayanti 2023: How To Worship
The scriptures highlight the significance of worshipping Lord Shani on Shani Jayanti. To begin the day, one may wake up early, bathe and wear clean clothes.
The first offering can be water to the Sun God, followed by lighting a mustard oil lamp to Shani Dev at a nearby temple. Next, a mixture of black sesame seeds and blue flowers in water may be offered to Shani Dev, along with chanting mantras associated with him. Finally, one may recite Shani Aarti and Hanuman Chalisa.
During Shani worship, blue flowers are suggested. Shani stays in one astrological sign for two and a half years, and the results of his influence gradually manifest according to one's karma.
As Shani is a devotee of Shiva, to appease him, one should also worship Shiva and Hanumanji.
