Shakira sold the Miami mansion for $1.8 million
Shakira retained the La Gorce Island home for four years before selling it in 2005 for $1.8 million, according to Architectural Digest.Based purely on the reported purchase and sale prices, the property changed hands for $725,000 more than Shakira had originally paid for it.
However, the sale did not signal the end of her property ties with Miami. In fact, the singer had already bought another home on La Gorce Island in 2001.
Shakira bought another Miami home for $3.38 million
The second La Gorce Island property was significantly different from her first Miami residence. Shakira reportedly paid $3.38 million for the waterfront home, which had six bedrooms and direct access to Biscayne Bay.The property featured a dock with 100 feet of bay access and water views. Over time, Shakira also made substantial changes to the residence, including adding three bedrooms.
Architectural Digest reported that she worked with architects Ben Lopez and Associates and interior designer Renata Lessa Bastos on the property. Bastos described Shakira’s design preferences as airy, bright and warm, with white textures, silver metallics and touches of lavender, lilac and fuchsia. The interiors also incorporated elements linked to Shakira’s Lebanese and Middle Eastern heritage.
Shakira’s Miami mansion became her home after Barcelona
Shakira’s real estate portfolio later expanded beyond Miami. During her relationship with Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, she owned homes in Barcelona and built a residence in Esplugues de Llobregat. Her Barcelona properties included features such as a recording studio, cinema, gym, swimming pool and terraces. After her separation from Piqué in 2022, Shakira moved from Barcelona to Miami with her two sons in 2023. Her waterfront Miami residence subsequently became the family’s home base, according to Architectural Digest.
Shakira’s global property portfolio
The singer’s real estate history extends well beyond Miami. Her properties have included a seven-bedroom farm near Punta del Este in Uruguay, homes in Barcelona and a villa in Cyprus. Her first Miami purchase, however, remains an important part of that story. Bought for $1.075 million in 2001 and sold for $1.8 million in 2005, the La Gorce Island home came at a time when Shakira was expanding her presence in the American music market and beginning a longer association with Miami.
