Shaheed Diwas holds significant place in the hearts of innumerable people across the globe. The day is commemorated in the memory of Guru Tegh Bahadur and his martyrdom for the well-being of society.

Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom day


He was the ninth Sikh Guru and was well known for his artillery skills. He used to travel to distant lands to spread the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He lost his life because of orders given by Mughal King Aurangzeb. Every year on November 24th, Shaheed Diwas, or Shaheedi Diwas, is observed to commemorate Guru Tegh Bahadur's martyrdom.

Teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur



Given the name Tyaga Mal at his birth, he teaches that one must learn self-control to be truly spiritual. He teaches that the two challenging factors are waiting for the right moment and remaining constant even when facing an obstacle.

He guided his followers to peace and contentment by being happy with what they had. He taught his followers to attain Jiwan Mukti with everything Nanak had given.

He always taught his followers to protect the weak, even at the cost of their own lives. He said that there is courage in owning up to your mistakes. It is always pardonable.

He also taught us that a real gentleman does not offend anyone, even accidentally. He teaches that to overcome greed, we must set ourselves on the path of spirituality.
