Shaheed Diwas 2024: India commemorates Martyr's Day on March 23, 2023, known as Shaheed Diwas, to honor the sacrifices of Bravehearts and soldiers, inspiring patriotism, unity, and national pride.

India observes Martyr's Day which is also known as Shaheed Diwas on March 23. This day is observed to pay tribute to the Bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country's freedom and to honour the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought for the country's independence.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respect to the Bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country. Along with a video, PM Modi said "Today the nation is remembering with reverence the martyrdom of Veer Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, the true sons of Mother India. On Martyr's Day, salute and respect to him from his family members across the country. Jai Hind!"


Shaheed Diwas: History


On March 23, 1931, in Lahore jail, young freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev were executed by the British government. Their sacrifice for India's freedom is honored every year on Shaheed Diwas. These brave individuals, in their twenties, gave their lives for the country. We also pay tribute to other courageous freedom fighters who laid down their lives for our nation's independence.
