Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' surpasses 'Pathaan' with record-breaking opening day collection

In a remarkable feat for the Hindi film industry, Atlee's latest venture, 'Jawan,' featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupati in pivotal roles, has outshone this year's previous SRK-starrer blockbuster, 'Pathaan,' by securing the highest-ever domestic opening day earnings.

Preliminary reports, subject to potential adjustments throughout the day, reveal that 'Jawan' amassed a staggering Rs 65 crore in net earnings on its opening day. This impressive figure surpasses 'Pathaan' by a substantial Rs 10 crore margin.

Among this year's colossal releases, 'Gadar 2,' starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, also made waves with an opening day collection of Rs 40.1 crore.


Furthermore, 'Jawan' has made notable strides in the Tamil and Telugu markets, adding an additional Rs 5 crore from each, resulting in a grand total of Rs 75 crore for its first-day earnings.

According to data from Sacnilk, 'Jawan' achieved an average occupancy rate of 58.67 percent across cinemas. Notably, evening and night showings witnessed a rapid surge in attendance. Chennai, the hometown of director Atlee and the beloved stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupati, boasted the highest average occupancy at an impressive 81 percent. Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Delhi-NCR were not far behind, each reporting an average occupancy of over 60 percent.

These figures demonstrate the immense popularity of 'Jawan' and its ability to captivate audiences across diverse regions, solidifying its position as a remarkable addition to the world of Indian cinema.
