Shah Rukh Khan's latest film, "Jawan," kickstarted its journey with a bang as eager audiences thronged theaters across West Bengal. From Kolkata to Siliguri, the charismatic actor's fans reveled in the festivities, creating an electrifying atmosphere with fireworks, dancing, drumbeats, and exuberant cheers. Remarkably, the movie achieved full house status in all 1,100 screenings held across the state on Thursday.

The distributor of the film, SVF, reported that every single show witnessed 100% occupancy, and long queues formed outside both multiplexes and single-screen theaters in Kolkata and other cities, regardless of the show timings. A spokesperson for SVF shared, "All the 1,100 shows have been a sold-out, and the craze reminded about the pre-Covid days. In several places, people gathered outside theaters even at 4 am not to miss the excitement and buzz in the air before the screening."

The enthusiasm reached such heights that even the 2 am show at an SVF property in the state was a sold-out success.

Amitabha Guha Thakurta, the regional director of PVR Inox Ltd, revealed that all 20 multiplexes in the state were screening 10 shows each. "At one multiplex, the 6.30 am show was also houseful. The next show at 8.30 am was predictably houseful, too. The response has been tremendous, and till Sunday, it is likely to remain so," he stated.

Navin Chokhani, the owner of Navina cinema, a renowned single-screen theater in the state, shared that all five shows were sold out within two days of advance booking on September 1. He enthused, "Had there been a word like 200 per cent occupancy, that could have been aptly used to define Jawan's stupendous success on opening day."

Adding to the festive atmosphere, members of the SRK Fans' Club arrived at 11.30 am with fireworks, confetti, and a giant-sized picture of Shah Rukh Khan adorned with flowers. Chokhani revealed that the fan club had purchased 150 seats in the 720-seat auditorium.

He further mentioned, "All the tickets for the next three days have been sold, and going by the craze, we hope it will continue for a week at least. Such movies are important to bring the crowd back to theaters in the age of OTT."

Directed by South filmmaker Atlee, "Jawan" is a pan-Indian thriller released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. This film marks Shah Rukh Khan's second release this year after 'Pathaan.' The star-studded cast of 'Jawan' includes Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, and Mukesh Chhabra, along with Deepika Padukone in a special appearance.

Presented by Red Chillies Entertainment, "Jawan" is produced by Gauri Khan and co-produced by Gaurav Verma.
