Seven golds, three silvers: India's boxing contingent punches its way to best-ever Commonwealth Games performance

Outperforming every previous Commonwealth Games medal haul, India's boxing contingent has scripted history at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning an unprecedented seven gold medals and three silvers to produce its most successful campaign yet.

India's previous best boxing campaign at the Commonwealth Games came in Gold Coast in 2018, when it won seven medals, including three gold.

Gold medal winners

Ankush Panghal sealed India's seventh boxing gold by defeating England's Dimeji Shittu 4-1 in the men's 80kg final.


Sachin Siwach produced one of the most dramatic wins of the competition in the men's 60kg final. Trailing Namibia's Tryagain Morning Ndevelo after the opening two rounds, Sachin forced a standing count in the final round before clinching a 3-2 split-decision victory.

Preeti Pawar opened India's golden run on the final day with a commanding 5-0 victory over Canada's Scarlett Delgado in the women's 54kg final. Ranked World No. 3 in the bantamweight division, Preeti dominated from the outset, winning the opening round unanimously before maintaining control throughout the contest.

Reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria successfully added a Commonwealth Games title to her achievements by defeating defending champion Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland 5-0 in the women's 57kg final. After edging a closely fought opening round, Jaismine took complete control in the second with a series of clean scoring punches.

Sakshi Chaudhary continued India's impressive run by defeating England's Ruby White 5-0 in the women's 51kg final with another dominant unanimous-decision victory.

Priya Ghanghas faced the toughest challenge among India's gold medallists, overcoming Canada's Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh 4-1 by split decision in the women's 60kg final after a fiercely contested bout.

Arundhati Choudhary rounded off a memorable campaign with a clinical 5-0 unanimous decision over England's Chantelle Reid in the women's 70kg final, controlling the bout from start to finish.

Silver medallists

Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain settled for silver after losing 1-4 to Australia's Emma-Sue Greentree in the women's 70kg final.

Jadumani Singh also finished with silver after suffering a 5-0 defeat to Australia's Jye Dixon in the men's 55kg final. The Indian had edged the opening round 3-2, but Dixon responded strongly to win the second round unanimously before carrying the momentum into the final round to secure the gold medal.

Narender Berwal claimed the silver medal in the men's +90kg category after finishing runner-up in the heavyweight final, adding another podium finish to India's historic boxing campaign.
