Schools will remain closed in Kerala, Rajasthan and Assam on September 21, while Telangana and several other states are expected to have regular classes.

Students and parents across India are checking whether schools will be closed on Monday, September 21, 2026. School holidays vary across states depending on regional festivals, government holiday lists and academic calendars.

Here is a state-wise look at where schools are expected to remain closed and where classes are likely to continue as usual.

Schools in Kerala will remain closed on September 21 for Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi. The Kerala General Education Department's September calendar lists the occasion as a holiday.

Students can therefore expect a holiday on Monday, although individual institutions may have separate academic arrangements.
