‘Selfiee’ Box office Collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar starrer becomes lowest opener in over a decade; earns Rs 3 crore on the first day

‘Selfiee’ starring Akshay Kumar earned just Rs 3 crore at the box office on the first day of its release. It became Akshay’s lowest opener in over a decade. The film registered an overall occupancy of just 9.95% according to the report.

Akshay’s last movie to earn below Rs 5 crore mark was ‘OMG’ made in 2010 which had earnt Rs 4.25 crore on the first day of its release. Raj Mehta-directed ‘Selfiee’ grossed even less than Kartik Aaryan-starrer ‘Shehzaada’ which opened with Rs 6 crore.

Selfiee’s box office earnings on the first day are even lower than the prediction of trade analyst, Girish Johar who had estimated the film to earn between Rs 4 crore to Rs 5 crore.


The movie starring Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty and Nushrratt Bharuccha is a remake of the Malayalam movie, ‘Driving License’ directed by Jean Paul Lal in 2019.
