November 2025 School Holidays: Check list of all regional and national holidays for students across India

After a long festive break in October for Diwali and other celebrations, students will witness less number of holidays in the month of November before big winter vacations in December and January. November will feature several key occasions such as Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartik Purnima, and Children’s Day, during which many schools are expected to remain closed.

After a festive October, November 2025 will bring a few significant regional and national holidays for students across India. While the number of holidays is fewer this month, several important cultural and state celebrations are lined up.

1 November 2025 – Haryana Day


Applicable in: Haryana

Significance: Celebrated annually to mark the state’s formation in 1966. The day is observed with cultural programs and official events highlighting Haryana’s heritage and progress. Schools and government offices in the state remain closed.

5 November 2025 – Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Birth Anniversary (Guru Nanak Jayanti)

Applicable in: Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, UP, Chandigarh, and other states

Significance: Known as Prakash Utsav or Guru Purab, the festival marks the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, founder of Sikhism. The day is celebrated with kirtans, langars, and processions at Gurudwaras. Schools in Sikh-majority regions remain closed.

9 November 2025 – Uttarakhand Foundation Day

Applicable in: Uttarakhand

Significance: Observed to commemorate the creation of the state in 2000 after its separation from Uttar Pradesh. Known as “Dev Bhumi,” the day showcases Uttarakhand’s spiritual and cultural traditions through various public events.

14 November 2025 – Children’s Day (Friday)

Applicable: Nationwide

Significance: Celebrated in honor of Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary, this day focuses on children’s happiness and education. Schools usually remain open and organize special programs, cultural activities, and fun events.

15 November 2025 – Jharkhand Foundation Day

Applicable in: Jharkhand

Significance: Marks the formation of Jharkhand in 2000 under the Bihar Reorganization Act. The day also honors Birsa Munda, the tribal freedom fighter. Schools and government offices in the state remain closed.

24 November 2025 – Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day (Monday)

Applicable in: Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh

Significance: Dedicated to the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, this day is observed with reverence. Schools in northern states remain closed, while institutions in southern and western India generally stay open.

Overall, November 2025 offers fewer school holidays compared to October. Apart from regional celebrations, schools will follow regular schedules. The month includes five Saturdays and four Sundays — with Sundays off universally, while Saturday schedules may differ by school policy.
