School holiday tomorrow, August 11: Check state-wise updates amid rain, Kanwar Yatra

Students and parents across several parts of India are checking whether schools will remain closed on Tuesday, August 11, amid heavy rainfall and Kanwar Yatra-related arrangements. There is currently no nationwide order declaring a school holiday for the date. However, schools in certain districts may remain closed based on local administrative decisions, weather conditions or religious events.

Haridwar schools closed till August 11

Schools and colleges in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, have been ordered to remain closed from July 30 to August 11 due to the Kanwar Yatra. The closure covers the peak pilgrimage period, including Sawan Shivratri on August 11.


The decision takes into account the movement of large numbers of Kanwariyas, traffic diversions and security arrangements in Haridwar.

Bageshwar schools closed amid heavy rain

Schools up to Class 12 in Uttarakhand's Bageshwar district were ordered closed on August 10 after an IMD orange alert warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The measure was taken as a precaution to protect students and school staff.

The August 10 order does not confirm a closure for August 11. Parents should therefore wait for a fresh order from the district administration before considering Tuesday a holiday.

UP schools affected by Kanwar Yatra

Several districts in western Uttar Pradesh have also seen school closures linked to Kanwar Yatra arrangements. Ghaziabad, Meerut and Muzaffarnagar are among the districts affected.

Traffic restrictions, diversions and the movement of large numbers of Kanwariyas have prompted administrations in these areas to suspend physical classes for student safety.

Noida school timings on August 11

Students in Noida and nearby areas should check communications from their respective schools for any changes to timings or operations. Schools in the region have been functioning under special arrangements amid Kanwar Yatra-related traffic restrictions.

Any fresh decision regarding a full-day closure or revised timings should be confirmed through school authorities or the district administration.

Assam schools: No statewide closure announced

Assam and other parts of Northeast India are expected to experience heavy rainfall during an active monsoon spell. The India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rainfall across the northeastern region, including Assam, with thunderstorms and isolated heavy showers possible in some areas.

No statewide school holiday has been announced for Assam at present. Any closure would depend on decisions by the relevant local authorities.

Himachal Pradesh schools: No August 11 holiday confirmed

There is currently no official confirmation of a school holiday in Himachal Pradesh for August 11 from the education authorities or concerned district administrations. School closures could depend on rainfall intensity and local conditions.

If weather conditions worsen or authorities identify risks to students and staff, district administrations may issue separate closure orders. An IMD alert alone does not automatically mean schools will remain closed.

Himachal districts under weather alerts

The IMD has placed Chamba, Kangra and Mandi under an orange alert for August 10 and 11, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for Una, Bilaspur and Shimla, while isolated heavy rainfall is possible elsewhere in the state.

Rainfall activity is expected to ease somewhat on August 12 and 13, although a yellow alert remains in parts of Chamba, Bilaspur, Kangra and Mandi.
