Parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to experience rain and thunderstorms today as several atmospheric circulations continue to influence the state’s weather patterns. The weather department has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in the Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu on March 17. While a few regions may witness short spells of showers, several other districts are expected to remain hot with largely dry conditions.

Rainfall activity is predicted to continue over the next few days. On Wednesday, moderate rainfall is expected across the delta districts and nearby regions. Similar weather conditions are likely on Thursday as well, with moderate rain forecast in parts of the delta region and southern Tamil Nadu.

School holiday tomorrow in Tamil Nadu?

There is no statewide announcement that all schools in Tamil Nadu are closed because of weather. Families are encouraged to check morning circulars for any last-minute announcements.

Karnataka weather

Even before rainfall reaches Bengaluru, several regions of Karnataka have already started experiencing thunderstorm activity. Weather watchers reported strong storms near Davanagere on Sunday evening, bringing lightning and short bursts of heavy rain. These storms are usually localised but intense, often causing brief spells of heavy rainfall, lightning strikes, gusty winds, and at times small hail.

No statewide school holiday has been announced in Karnataka due to weather. Parents should check with their respective schools for further updates.

Andhra Pradesh weather

Several districts in Telangana have been put on alert after the India Meteorological Department forecast thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall across the state from March 17 to March 20. Weather officials stated that rainfall began affecting several districts on March 17, while the most intense spell is expected between March 18 and March 20. Wind speeds could reach between 40 and 60 km/h, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

School holiday tomorrow in Andhra Pradesh?

So far, no statewide holiday for schools has been declared in Andhra Pradesh due to weather. Parents and students are encouraged to confirm with their respective institutions for any district-level announcements.
