Forest and wildlife teams from Haryana and Rajasthan are collaboratively tracking the three-year-old tiger.
The tiger left the boundaries of Sariska and made its presence known in Sukh Kheda village near the Rajasthan-Haryana border town of Bhiwadi, where it reportedly attacked a farmer on Thursday.
Wildlife officials are closely monitoring the tiger's movements and exploring the possibility of its natural return to Sariska. However, if needed, authorities might use bait, such as a goat, to lure and tranquillise the tiger for safe transportation back to the Rajasthan reserve.
The incident has prompted safety measures in the Masani area, with villagers advised to stay indoors between 5 pm and 7 am. Authorities have also urged locals to report any attacks on cattle to the forest department. Cages and baits have been strategically placed to capture the tiger and facilitate its return to Sariska.
Experts said that it is not uncommon for sub-adult tigers to explore new territories and express confidence that the tiger is likely to return on its own. While monitoring the situation, authorities are taking precautions to prevent any untoward incidents in case the tiger ventures into human-inhabited areas.
The hills of Haryana and Rajasthan, being contiguous, serve as a natural habitat for wildlife, and wildlife officials are working together to manage the situation.
