Sarfaraz Khan shocks fans with 17 kg weight loss; father reveals diet behind transformation

Sarfaraz Khan, the Indian cricketer, has surprised everyone with his remarkable physical transformation, shedding 17 kilograms in just over two months. This change comes after being included in the India A team and impressing with a century.

Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan left fans and the cricket fraternity surprised on Monday after sharing a striking new photo that showed his dramatically leaner physique. The 27-year-old batter, who has featured in six Test matches and scored 371 runs, has reportedly shed 17 kilograms in just over two months.

Though Sarfaraz is not part of the current India squad touring England, he was included in the India A team that visited the UK ahead of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. On that tour, he impressed with a century, once again showcasing his batting prowess. Despite making his Test debut against England earlier this year in February, Sarfaraz has yet to secure a permanent spot in the national team. However, his consistent performances in domestic cricket and renewed focus on fitness may help turn the tide.

The story behind Sarfaraz Khan’s transformation

The story of Sarfaraz’s remarkable transformation goes back to May when he was named in the India A squad. Speaking to Hindustan Times, his father and coach Naushad Khan revealed the disciplined lifestyle changes that brought about the transformation.


"We have controlled our diet a lot. We have stopped eating roti, rice, etc. We haven't eaten roti or rice at home for 1 to 1.5 months. We eat broccoli, carrot, cucumber, salad, and green vegetable salad. Along with that, we eat grilled fish, grilled chicken, boiled chicken, boiled egg, etc. We are also having green tea and green coffee," Naushad explained.

He also detailed how they cut out sugar and refined food entirely. "We eat avocados also. There are sprouts also. But the main thing is that we have stopped eating roti and rice. We have stopped eating sugar. We have stopped eating maida (flour) and bakery items."

Naushad went on to mention that Sarfaraz even gave up his beloved biryani. "He has almost lost 10 kgs within 1.5 months. He is working on reducing his weight even further. I have reduced 12 kgs myself because I had a knee issue. So, I also benefited from it. The doctor told me that I have to do a knee replacement. So, I told him that I had to delay it. He told me that I have to reduce my weight for that."

The drastic fitness transformation is being viewed as part of Sarfaraz’s renewed commitment to his career, as he continues to push for a regular spot in the Indian squad. With strong domestic numbers and now a visible dedication to fitness, the Mumbai batter is doing everything in his control to make a comeback at the highest level.
