Sardar box office collection day 1: The spy thriller earns whooping Rs 3.7 crore

Tamil action-spy movie, Sardar is getting rave reviews from all quarters. It features Karthi, Suriya’s brother, in the lead role. In this film, Karthi essays the dual roles of Chandrabose, aka Sardar, an ex-RAW officer, and Vijaya Prakash, a cop. Sardar was released theatrically on October 21, 2022, coinciding with the Diwali festivities.

Moviegoers have hailed this spy thriller as a blockbuster. However, despite getting rave reviews, Sardar's box office collection on day 1 did not live up to expectations.

Sardar Day 1 Box Office Earnings

The movie failed to perform well on its first day at the box office. Sacnilk.com, an entertainment tracking website, reported that Sardar's box office collection on Day 1 stood at Rs 3.7 Crore. The spy thriller reportedly had just 27.51% occupancy on Day 1, with significant audiences coming from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Sardar happens to be the third hit in a row for Karthi, whose two other recent releases include Ponniyin Selvan and Viruman.

Before this, Karthi featured in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1, where he played the role of Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan. Along with Karthi, the film also had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and others. Earlier, Viruman, a social film, was richly rewarded at the box office.
