Sankashti Chaturthi 2022: The Sankashti Chaturthi is the famous Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha (the VighnaHarta). It shall be celebrated on16th July 2022. As this festival falls in the month of Shravana, the Sankashti Chaturthi will be famously called Gajanana.

  • Initiating time of the tithi: 1:27 pm.

Lord Ganesha's devotees will wake up early and perform the bath to sit in the prayer. They also keep fast on this day.
The idol of Lord Ganesha will be given a bath of panchamrit. This Panchamritis the combination of milk, honey, curd, ghee and sugar. Then, a Diya is lit near the idol.

A tilak of kumkum is applied. The idol is also offered the garlands along with the favourite sweets of lord Ganesha, i.e. Modak and Laddoo. Moreover, the devotees shall not forget the favourite herb of lord Ganesha, i.e. the Durva Grass.

Then, Lord Ganesha's devotees will sing Katha for him out of love and respect. Then, they shall perform arti of the Ganesha.The devotees also visit the temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha to offer him his favourite sweets.

After offering bhog (offering sweets out of love) in the evening, the devotees can break their fast. Moreover, adding rock salt to the food is necessary to break the fast. You can add them to various items like potatoes, fruits or kheer.The Prasad of the bhog is also distributed among all the members of the family.
