The reported redesign would mark a departure from the camera arrangement Samsung has used across several generations of its Ultra smartphones. The new layout is expected to group the rear sensors into a raised rectangular module at the top-left corner, with the design reportedly drawing comparisons to the camera housing on Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Alongside the possible design changes, early leaks have pointed to a revised triple-camera setup, a next-generation Qualcomm processor, a large AMOLED display and faster charging capabilities. However, Samsung has not officially confirmed the phone or its specifications.
Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra: Expected camera upgrades and design
The camera system could be among the biggest changes in the Galaxy S27 Ultra. According to leaks, Samsung may move away from the existing four-sensor arrangement and introduce three rear cameras.
The reported setup includes a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor and a new 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The move could also mean the removal of the existing 10MP 3x telephoto sensor. A 12MP front camera is tipped to handle selfies and video calls.
The leaked CAD renders, shared by tipsters including Ice Universe, Sonny Dickson and Max Jambor, also indicate a rectangular camera island instead of individually raised camera rings.
Processor, RAM and expected performance
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, reportedly based on a 2nm manufacturing process. The processor could be paired with 12GB of LPDDR6 RAM.
Storage options are expected to start at 256GB, with UFS 4.1 technology reportedly under consideration. These specifications, if accurate, could bring improvements in processing performance and power efficiency.
Display and battery specifications
Samsung is expected to retain a large 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display on the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The panel is tipped to offer QHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support and peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits.
Battery capacity could increase to around 5,500mAh, according to early reports. The phone is also tipped to support 60W wired charging and 25W wireless charging.
Other expected features include 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, dual SIM support, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and S Pen compatibility.
