Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Rs 1.5 crore engagement ring was a complete surprise from husband Raj Nidimoru: ‘I had no part whatsoever in selecting this ring’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s engagement ring has drawn plenty of attention, but the actor has revealed that she played no role in selecting the design. In fact, Samantha said she had not even seen the ring before Raj Nidimoru proposed to her.

Samantha Had No Role In Choosing The Ring

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Samantha was asked about the story behind her engagement ring and who was involved in choosing its design. She revealed that Raj handled the entire process himself and made sure the final design remained a surprise.

"I had no idea about it, by the way. I had no part whatsoever in selecting this ring! It's all Raj. You must ask him...," she said.

Samantha further revealed that the first time she saw the ring was when Raj proposed to her.

Ring Designed By Their Friend In Greece

The engagement ring also carries a personal connection for the couple. Samantha revealed that the piece was designed by a friend of theirs who works as a jewellery designer in Greece.

Reports have identified the designer as Theodoros Savopoulos, an Athens-based jeweller known for creating bespoke jewellery while largely keeping a low profile. Savopoulos also posted a picture of Samantha wearing the ring on social media and wrote, "Honoured to celebrate Samantha & Raj with diamonds whose natural clarity echoes their own, and with a wish for eternal light upon their union."

Ring Estimated To Be Worth Rs 1.5 Crore

Apart from its personal significance, the ring’s distinctive design has also attracted attention. Celebrity jewellery expert Priyanshy Goel reportedly claimed that Raj proposed with a lozenge-cut diamond ring and estimated its value at around Rs 1.5 crore.

The striking piece reportedly features eight portrait-cut diamond petals, giving it a distinctive floral-inspired appearance.

What Is A Portrait-Cut Diamond?

The portrait cut has a long history in Indian jewellery and was particularly associated with the Mughal era.

The technique is considered relatively rare, with only a limited number of craftsmen continuing to specialise in the traditional style.
