Sam Neill dies at 78
In a statement shared on Neill's official Instagram page, his family said he remained cancer-free at the time of his death. No official cause of death has been disclosed.
"The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free," the family said in the statement.
The actor had publicly revealed in 2023 that he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Earlier this year, he announced that he was cancer-free following treatment for stage-three blood cancer.
