Sadak 2 actor Chrisann Pereira released from UAE jail

Bollywood actor Chrisann Pereira of Sadak 2 fame, who was arrested in the UAE on April 1, 2023 in a drugs case, was released from jail on April 26, it has been reported.

News reports said that Chrisann was allegedly framed in a drugs case by a shopkeeper in her neighbourhood, a bakery owner, who has a history of framing people. The actor was serving time in a Sharjah prison.

The news of the 27-year-old actor’s release was put out by her brother Kevin Pereira. Chrisann’s brother posted a video on Instagram that showed their mother Pramila Pereira talking to the actor on video call after her release from the prison in Sharjah.


As Chrisann fights tears of joy, her mother said, “You are free. This is amazing!”

Kevin also informed that his sister will be back in India in 48 hours. He said on Instagram alongside the video, “Chrisann is SET FREE!!! She will be in India in the next 48 hours.” The post seems to have been removed now.

Actor Chrisann Pereira got the shock of her life when she was arrested at the Sharjah airport on April 1, 2023. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch investigated the matter and found that the actor was framed by a bakery owner named Anthony Paul, who sought revenge from Chrisann after a fight over her pet dog. The two live in the same apartment complex.

Mumbai Police has nabbed Anthony Paul and Rajesh Bobhate. Bobhate is an assistant general manager in a bank and had allegedly helped Anthony in framing Chrisann.

How was Chrisann Pereira framed?

Anthony’s aide Rajesh approached Chrisann, posing as a talent agent. He told her to go in for an audition for a web series in Sharjah, and also asked her to carry a ‘trophy’ with her as a prop for the shoot.

Drugs were hidden in the trophy, said the police. "He gave the trophy by hiding ganja and poppy seeds in it so that she could be caught there. After she landed, he called the Sharjah airport and told the officials that she was carrying drugs," the police revealed.

Anthony and Rajesh demanded an extortion amount of Rs. 80 lakh from Chrisann’s family for her release from prison.

The Mumbai Police followed up the case and ensured the release of the actor from the UAE prison.
