The Indian team at one point of time appeared to be on course for a surprise win when they were cruising at 118-2. But the dismissals of Jemimah Rodrigues (33) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (65) sapped their momentum and they fell frustratingly short of the target. The Indian team were eventually bowled out for 152.
Despite the defeat, the Indian women's cricket team was hailed by many, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who lauded them for fetching a silver medal. The first-ever CWG medal in cricket will always be special, the PM said.
Meanwhile, Azharuddin's tweet has gone viral. It has already been liked by thousands of people and has been retweeted by many. The tweet has also received a lot of flak by many who found Azharuddin's choice of words harsh.
