'RRR' surpasses Rajini's 'Muthu', becomes highest grossing Indian movie in Japan

The craze of RRR, Rise Roar Revolt, hasn’t reduced yet. After winning the heart of the audience all over India, it also engulfed the Japanese audience with its magical charisma. Thus, RRR became the first Indian movie to earn the highest amount in Japan.

The official Twitter handle of RRR stated that the Golden Globe-nominated film has raised over 410 million yen at the Japanese box office since its release in the country on October 21.

"Delighted to share that #RRRMovie is now the highest grossing film with the highest footfall recorded for an Indian film in Japan! Thank you for all the love you showered on our stars and director ever since the film's release," the post read.


RRR has keft behind Muthu, a super hit film starring Rajinikanth, which was still the highest-grosser in Japan. In Japan, the top three Indian movies are Muthu, Baahubali, and RRR, all of which are directed by Rajamouli.

Rajamouli released RRR in March 2022 in India. Then he released his magnum opus in Japan in November 2022. At the Japanese box office, the film earned almost 403 million Yen. In Indian rupees, this comes to nearly Rs 24 Crore.
