RRR makers hint at a sequel. Rajamouli says Keeravani gave the idea
SS Rajamouli confirmed that the team was working on the sequel of RRR, which will also feature Ram Charan and Jr NTR. He said his cousin, M.M. Keeravani, the music composer for the first part, came up with an idea worth pursuing.

RRR was released in March 2022 and instantly became one of the biggest Indian films of all time. The film was a rare critical and commercial success that had two of South’s biggest superstars delivering their best performances ever. Like the first film, the sequel will also have the two returning for an epic battle with the British imperial powers.
However, Rajamouli admitted that a sequel was not considered while making the first part. Talking to the press, the iconic director said the sequel was discussed after the initial success, but since nothing great came forward, they had dropped the idea. Subsequently, after the massive success globally, Rajamouli’s cousin and music composer for RRR, M.M. Keeravani, came up with an idea that the filmmaker found worth pursuing.
RRR has received heaps of praise domestically and in foreign markets. Likewise, it has performed big in the award season, bagging nominations in the Golden Globe, and Critics Choice Awards. The superhit song Naatu Naatu was shortlisted for the Original Song category in all three major awards, while it was also short-listed in the Best Picture non-English language category for the Golden Globes.
For the Critics’ Choice Awards, RRR got shortlisted under five categories, including Best Picture and Best Director. However, the film faces stiff competition from mega-blockbusters released recently, like James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, Damien Chazelle’s Babylon, and Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick.
