Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 spotted ahead of September 4 launch: Check expected changes over previous version

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 appears to have been spotted at a dealership stockyard ahead of its scheduled launch in India on September 4, 2026. Images of what looks like the production-spec motorcycle offer a glimpse of its instrument cluster and suggest that the upcoming ADV will sit below the Himalayan 450 in the company’s lineup.

The motorcycle is part of Royal Enfield’s project internally known as ‘D4G’ and is expected to replace the Himalayan 411. While it will share its engine with the Scram 440, the new motorcycle is expected to receive a different chassis and wheel setup suited to its adventure-focused positioning.

The images indicate that the Himalayan 440 will feature a twin-pod instrument cluster. One of the pods appears to be a Tripper navigation screen, which could support features such as Bluetooth connectivity, app integration, turn-by-turn navigation and other connected functions.


Royal Enfield has not detailed all the features of the motorcycle ahead of its launch, so the exact specifications of the instrument console and connected functions remain to be confirmed.

Same 443cc engine as Scram 440

The Himalayan 440 is expected to use the 443cc single-cylinder engine found in the Scram 440.

On the Scram 440, the engine produces 25 BHP and 34 Nm and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. The Himalayan 440 is expected to use the same powertrain.

The upcoming motorcycle will be positioned below the Himalayan 450, giving Royal Enfield another option in its adventure motorcycle range.

How the Himalayan 440 could differ from Scram 440

Although the Himalayan 440 is expected to share its engine with the Scram 440, the two motorcycles are likely to differ significantly in their chassis and wheel configuration.

The Scram 440 uses a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The Himalayan 440 is expected to get a larger 21-inch front wheel, similar to the previous Himalayan 411.

It is also likely to feature tubed wire-spoke rims, further distinguishing it from the Scram 440.

The motorcycle could also receive cross-spoke wheels, riding modes, traction control, switchable ABS and a Tripper navigation pod, although the complete feature list is yet to be confirmed.

Himalayan 440 expected to offer simpler ADV option

The Himalayan 411 had established itself as a popular model before being succeeded by the Himalayan 450. With the new Himalayan 440, Royal Enfield is expected to offer a simpler alternative to the mechanically more complex Himalayan 450.

The motorcycle could therefore occupy a distinct position within Royal Enfield’s adventure range rather than directly replacing the Himalayan 450.

The new model is also expected to receive its own colour options, helping differentiate it from the company’s existing motorcycles.
