The clip later shows the woman explaining the reasons behind her action, saying she acted out of desperation to seek help for her daughter, who is allegedly suffering from a serious illness and needs a life-saving injection priced at Rs 9 crore.
“My name is Sarita Sharma. My daughter, Anika, is suffering from a serious illness, and to save her, we need an injection that costs Rs 9 crore and has to be imported from America. We have been organising small camps to raise funds, and so far, we have managed to collect Rs 4.1 crore. We are running out of time," she said in the video.
Woman reveals reason behind security scare
Sarita Sharma, who grabbed Rohit Sharma's hand revealed she had been trying to reach out to various Indian cricketers during the match so that she could get assistance for her sick daughter. The woman claimed that her desperate act was motivated by an attempt to save her severely ill daughter, who requires a Rs 9 crore life-saving injection. “Yesterday, during the India-New Zealand match, we tried to reach out to cricketers in the hope of getting some help. We also set up a donation camp during the match, but it was not enough. I was trying to meet Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as they have been helping children. In a desperate attempt to save my child, I went to the hotel where Rohit Sharma was staying. Emotions got the better of me, and I ended up grabbing his hand," she added.ALSO READ: OpenAI falling apart? How social media reacted

"A mother can go to any extent to protect her children—there’s nothing wrong in that. Rohit and Virat, as parents of daughters, will surely understand her situation," wrote another. The episode has reignited concerns over security protocols for high-profile athletes, particularly during international tours. "That is a very fair point. Public figures are humans too, and they deserve their private space," a user commented.
