Indian captain Rohit Sharma was taken to the hospital after he injured his figure while attempting a catch during the second ODI against Bangladesh. The incident happened when Bangladesh opener Anamul Haque edged a delivery off Mohammed Siraj, which went toward the second slip where the skipper was standing.

Sharma dropped the catch and injured his finger in the process. He was seen immediately in pain and left the field. As per reports, the injury appeared to be a split webbing. Rajat Patidar replaced the Indian skipper on the field. In Sharma’s absence, the team was led by vice-captain KL Rahul.

The first ODI saw India crumble against Bangladesh and face a defeat in a low total match. Batting first, the Indians were all out for a meagre 186. Though the Indian bowlers made life tough for the opposition, Bangladesh managed to win with one wicket and four overs left.


Mohammed Siraj was the star performer for India, taking 3/32 off 10 overs, but his efforts were in a losing cause. Mehidy Hasan was named “Man of the Match” for his all-round performance. He took the important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan, scored 38 off 39 and steered Bangladesh to victory in a nail-biting finish.

India have made two changes for the second ODI - Shahbaz Ahmed and Kuldeep Sen have been rested for all-rounder Axar Patel and pacer Umran Malik. The batting line-up, which crumbled in the first game, remained unchanged.
