Dussehra featured a Ravan effigy shaped like a Mahindra Thar. This replica gained online attention. The actual Thar SUV faced scrutiny. Accidents involving the vehicle occurred. Users urged Mahindra to educate buyers on driving practices. A video ...

While Rajasthan’s Kota grabbed headlines for hosting what was touted as the world’s tallest Ravan effigy, another unique Ravan is now winning the internet.
This time, Ravan took the form of none other than a Mahindra Thar.
Yes, you read that right! It wasn’t an actual SUV, but a cleverly built replica. The effigy had a man perched on top, “4x4 Thar” boldly written across it, and massive alloy wheels adding to the effect.
The video doesn’t reveal the location of this creative twist, but it has triggered a wave of amused reactions online.
One user commented, “Perfectly done!” while another joked, “Just missing a word rhyming with ‘kaat’ on the rear window.” Someone else quipped, “Limited Ravan Edition.” A few even wondered if Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra would weigh in on the viral clip.
Interestingly, the Thar has often made news for reasons beyond its rugged charm. Just last month, five people lost their lives when a black Thar crashed into a divider near Jharsa Chowk, Gurugram. Days earlier, a Faridabad property dealer was run over by a Thar registered in the name of an ACP.
These back-to-back incidents have prompted netizens to urge Mahindra to educate customers about the SUV’s intended purpose. One viral post appealed to the company, stressing that while the Thar is an iconic off-roader, its high center of gravity makes it more prone to rollovers at high speeds. The user requested that showrooms counsel buyers about safe driving practices to prevent tragic accidents and safeguard Mahindra’s brand image.
Adding to the growing concerns, another video showed a Thar driver recklessly showcasing its 4x4 capabilities—colliding with two-wheelers, blocking traffic, and even driving on the footpath.
Whether as a Ravan replica or in real-life incidents, the Mahindra Thar continues to dominate headlines—sometimes for its creativity, sometimes for its controversies.
