Conservative party leader Rishi Sunak claims he has no working-class friends in an old video clip. The viral video clip is a part of a BBC documentary named ‘Middle Classes – Their Rise and Sprawl’.

While Rishi Sunak is one of the leading candidates in the race for the post of UK prime minister, an old video of him saying that he does not have working-class friends has gone viral on the internet.

In the almost two-decade-old video, the then 21-year-old Rishi Sunak is seen saying that while he is having friends who are aristocrats and upper-class, he is not having friends from the working class.

The video clip going viral is a part of the BBC documentary named ‘Middle Classes – Their Rise and Sprawl’. This clip was posted by a woman named Kathryn Franklin, who saw this documentary in March.

She felt that the words spoken by Rishi Sunak in this clip from the documentary contradict his beliefs stated by him in his campaign for becoming the UK prime minister. Kathryn concluded by saying that she does not belong to any political party in particular. Since this video has gone viral, it is catching the attention of several netizens.

The 42-year-old Rishi Sunak, who has served as the former chancellor, launched his candidature for the UK prime minister on July 8th as the new leader of the Conservative Party. In his campaign video, Sunak talked about how his grandparents moved to the UK and gave him the opportunities for a better life.
