In his tweet about Rishi Sunak's appointment, Anand Mahindra quoted the infamous words of Winston Churchill, who called Indians "rascals, rogues, and freebooters," in 1947 when India was about to gain its independence from British colonial rule. Churchill had said that if India were granted freedom, power would go to the hands of "rascals, rogues, and freebooters." He also denounced Indian leaders as men of straw and low calibre.

Rishi Sunak, who is 42, will take over from Liz Truss after winning the Conservative leadership race on October 24. Interestingly, Truss resigned from the post after 45 days in the office. Sunak was born in Southampton in the United Kingdom, to Indian-origin parents.
