Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, visited the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt in Bengaluru's Jayanagar area on Tuesday. They were accompanied by Murty's parents, Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy, and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty.

The family participated in traditional rituals and sought blessings at the temple. Photos of their visit have been shared on social media.

Rishi Sunak and wife, Akshata Murty, were recently seen at a Third Wave Coffee outlet in Bengaluru. The couple was observed placing orders at the counter and sitting at a table. They also took selfies with fellow patrons.

Simple outfits and public interaction

Rishi Sunak, 44, wore his signature white shirt and black trousers, while Akshata Murty opted for a simple pastel kurta. The couple interacted with customers at the cafe, capturing the attention of social media users. Neither Sunak nor Murty shared details of their visit on social media.

Family visit to Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt

Earlier this week, the couple, along with Murty’s parents, Infosys co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy and Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty, visited the Sri Raghavendra Swami Mutt in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. The family participated in rituals and sought blessings during the auspicious month of Kartik. Sudha Murty was seen giving cash to her daughter and son-in-law for a donation.

Rishi Sunak’s background and recent activities

Rishi Sunak made history as the first British-Indian Prime Minister of the UK, serving from October 2022 until his resignation in July 2024. He was succeeded by Keir Starmer. Recently, Akshata Murty and her father were also spotted enjoying ice cream at a local shop in Jayanagar.

Royal visits to Bengaluru

In a similar vein, British royals King Charles and Camilla were in Bengaluru recently for a quiet visit to a luxury wellness retreat in Whitefield.

The Murthys, long-time residents of Jayanagar, continue to stay connected with their roots through such visits.
