Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly has revealed that it could take Rishabh Pant up to two years to play for India again. Ganguly, who is managing the Delhi Capitals for the upcoming Indian Premier League season, revealed this in an interview with a news agency. Rishabh Pant, India's wicket-keeper batter, is recuperating from injuries after surviving a serious car accident in December last year.

The Indian player has ruled himself out of the IPL 2023. Ganguly stated that it would be difficult to fill the void left by Rishabh Pant in the Delhi Capitals lineup, and the team has not yet decided on a replacement. The former batter stated that he had spoken with Pant a few times since his tragic accident in December 2022.

Pant will be back for India to play international cricket in a year or two, according to the former BCCI President.

Several reports in the previous month suggested that Pant could be out of commission for 6 months. Pant's exact return date is unknown, but if he returns after two years, he will miss the T20 World Cup in 2024.

"At 21, I had similar success, so I can relate to what these guys have done. Yes, after IPL, Pant came with a lot of baggage. He has trained harder than anyone. "When you have a naturally brilliant match-winner of his ability playing to the potential there is no greater sight for cricket. I think in the last two months what he has done for India, no one would ever do that in a lifetime. His keeping was outstanding," he added.
