Actor-Director Rishab Shetty has given a green signal for ‘Kantara 2’ release at the box office next year. The movie is set to be a prequel to its first edition ‘Kantara’ that was released in 2022.

Speaking to the media, Rishab opened up on various important things concerning 'Kantara' and the upcoming second edition. The director left the audience in shock when he stated that ‘Kantara’ was supposedly the second part of the series. He said that what the viewers saw was in reality ‘Part 2’ while ‘Part 1’ still awaits its release next year. Rishab added that the idea for the film came to his mind during the shooting of ‘Kantara’ because the history of Kantara still has more depth to unravel. The filmmaker said that currently they are midway into discovering more details. He said that it is early to disclose the highlights about the upcoming film because the research is still in its nascent stage.
The filmmaker announced that he is currently working on the script of ‘Kantara 2.’ The movie will be bankrolled by Homable Films. 'Kantara' was made with a small budget of INR 16 crore and successfully earned over INR 450 crores in collections.
'Kantara' hit the cinemas on September 30, 2022. The movie depicted the story of a small community inhabiting the woods of Kadabettu, Karnataka. The plot showcased an intriguing human versus nature clash where villagers fought evil forces to protect their land. The protagonist Shiva, played by Rishab Shetty, defended his village and gave a new dimension to ‘heroism’ pictured in Indian films. The movie had talented actors like Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda, and Pramod Shetty in lead roles.
