Just ahead of Republic Day 2026 celebration, police in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district have seized thousands of kilograms of explosive material from a farmhouse and arrested one man under the Explosives Act. The operation comes at a time when intelligence agencies across the country are on high alert following recent reports of multiple terror threat inputs linked to January 26, police officials said.

Nagaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Mridul Kachhawa told ANI that the district police acted on specific intelligence about illegal storage of explosives and recovered a huge cache of ammonium nitrate along with detonators and fuse wires. A case has been registered under provisions of the Explosives Act and organised crime laws.

Intelligence inputs trigger late-night operation

Police said they had been receiving information for some time about large quantities of explosive material being bought, sold and stored in Nagaur district. Acting on these inputs, a police team carried out a late-night operation in Harsaur village and arrested Suleman Khan from a farmhouse where the explosives were stored.

Addressing a press conference, Kachhawa said, "For quite some time, the Nagaur police had been receiving intelligence reports indicating that large quantities of explosive materials were being bought, sold, and stored in the district... Yesterday, the district police carried out a major operation... In the operation, one person, Suleman Khan, an accused in this case, has been arrested. A case has been registered under sections of the Explosives Act and organised crime. A large quantity of explosive material was seized from the site. This is possibly the biggest operation under the Explosives Act in the state."

What police recovered from the site

During the raid, police seized around 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, packed in nearly 187 sacks. Officers also recovered a large quantity of explosive accessories from the site.

These included detonators, detonating wire, blue fuse wire and red fuse wire, materials commonly used for mining-related blasting activities, police said.

The arrested accused, Suleman Khan, is a resident of Harsaur village. Police said he was storing the explosive stock at his farmhouse.

Kachhawa said the accused has a criminal background related to explosives. "A total of 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate was seized. A large quantity of detonators, detonating wire, and other materials commonly used for mining-related blasting were also seized. The accused, Suleman Khan, is a resident of Harsore. He was storing the stock in his farmhouse. The accused has three previous cases registered against him, all related to the Explosives Act. He has been acquitted in one of them," he said.

Seizure comes amid nationwide terror alerts on Republic Day 2026

The massive seizure in Rajasthan comes amid recent reports of heightened terror threats flagged by intelligence agencies ahead of Republic Day. According to a report by TOI, unusual coded references reading “26-26” have appeared on a cluster of suspicious digital platforms, prompting increased security preparedness in Delhi and at major religious locations across the country, including the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The repeated messaging is being interpreted as a possible reference to Republic Day on January 26, 2026, and has placed intelligence agencies on high alert, sources told TOI. Officials said the alerts coincide with specific threat inputs traced to terrorist groups operating from Pakistan.

Agencies probe coordinated threat signals

The TOI report said the pattern and timing of the online chatter have led agencies to treat the signals as potentially coordinated rather than isolated activity. Security planners are closely analysing the digital footprint behind the messages, especially against the backdrop of recent speeches by senior commanders of Jaish-e-Muhammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

These speeches are being seen as an attempt to project retaliation following damage to militant infrastructure during Operation Sindoor. According to the intelligence assessment cited in the report, multiple outfits based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, with alleged backing from the ISI, may be working towards synchronised strikes in key Indian cities, with Delhi identified as a primary focus.

The inputs also point to alleged operational links between these groups and gangsters operating out of Punjab. TOI further reported that a Kashmiri resistance group calling itself Falcon Squad has issued warnings on an encrypted platform, threatening “serious repercussions” around Republic Day.
